Frequently Asked Questions
We have endeavoured to address the main questions asked of NARDS,
if you still have a question that is not listed, please feel free to Contact NARDS
Answer:
The annual membership fee is £49.99, renewable 12 months from the date of joining.
Answer:
The founders of NARDS have over 13 years experience in the dog boarding and pet sitting industry running
the largest agency of its kind in the UK. During this time we've boarded thousands of dogs and have
experienced and overcome hundreds of problems that a dog sitter might incur like, lost dogs, dogs biting
people and biting other dogs, dogs dying while being boarded and every other imaginable problem that you
can conceive - this in turn has given us the wealth of knowledge and experience that has led us to believe
that we are experienced and capable of giving advice and guidance to others.
We were probably the first commercial dog boarders in the UK (aside for the conventional dog kennel
approach). We have been interviewed for a 30 mins on National TV and had articles in the paper about
us (we will make these available online via You Tube shortly for anyone interested).
NARDS was involved in extensive meetings with the City of London inspectorate who came to our offices
to discuss what model conditions should be adhered to by dog boarders within the licensing conditions
set for local councils.
We were also involved in meetings with DEFRA regarding the boarding establishment act and spoke out
to bring a fairer system in place for pet sitters who board dogs overnight for payment.
Answer:
Yes, you can call our help and advice line, but in most cases you may be referred
to one of the numbers on our links section which has numbers for emergency vets,
dog behaviorists, pet taxis, pet rescue centres etc - so check there first.
Answer:
We at NARDS do not think it is a good idea for anyone to know your full address
until you are happy to meet them, you could get people turning up at your door
without even calling you first. We think you should first talk to a client by
phone or email and ensure that for one - you can help the pet owner and secondly,
that the pet owner sounds genuine.
Answer:
12 months from the date of joining, you will need to renew. We are hoping to include
your annual insurance as part of the membership fee.
Answer:
Yes, if you decide to not address issues that have been raised by NARDS or your #

Answer:
Yes, this is possible. We want to be known in the industry for quality and
integrity and if you have addressed the previous issues, then you can be
reconsidered for memebership.
